In 1999, a handful of parents whose children were studying in St Michael’s School (Since renamed St Joseph’s Junior) decided to form a football team with the intention of strengthening the bond between father and son.
The name ‘Essex’ is derived from Essex Road, where the school is located. ‘Lasallians’ comes from the Lasallian Brothers who ran the Christian Brothers Schools which comprise St Joseph’s, St Patrick’s, St Steven’s, De La Salle and St Michael’s.
Today the team comprises members from different educational, cultural and social backgrounds, living up to our mission of embracing diversity and inclusivity.
The logo is a cross, made up of the words ‘Essex’ and ‘Lasallians’ in a horizontal and vertical axis. The cross represents the unique Lasallian spirit.
The letter ‘S’ from both words meets at the centre of the cross within a soccer ball. This represents the core activity of Essex Lasallians.
The logo is in green which is the colour of life, freedom, hope and peace.
